Sutton, Dublin 13 · County Dublin
Four generations of Master Butchers since 1880 — dry-aged grass-fed beef from the north Dublin shore, delivered nationwide.
Higgins Family Butchers has stood in Sutton, Dublin 13 since 1880 — making it one of the oldest continuously operating butcher families in Ireland. The current generation is led by Rick Higgins, a trained Master Butcher who continues the dry-aging and sourcing methods built up across four generations of the trade.
Their beef is sourced from Irish grass-fed herds and aged for a minimum of 28 days on the bone in their onsite dry-aging chambers, using methods developed and refined in-house over decades. The result is beef with a depth of flavour that slow-grown, pasture-raised cattle naturally produce — and that long dry-aging unlocks further.
Higgins sources from selected Irish grass-fed herds, with provenance tied to the Irish grass-fed tradition — cattle raised on Irish pasture, most qualifying under the EU's Protected Geographical Indication for Irish grass-fed beef (granted 2023). Every batch is individually selected by Rick Higgins before cutting.
Higgins is best known for their dry-aged ribeye and sirloin — the steaks that formed their reputation and their online range. They also offer lamb, pork, and poultry from trusted Irish suppliers. Their online shop carries individual cuts and curated steak boxes (from single steak to four-person sharing boxes).
Orders are placed through their own online shop (higginsbutchers.ie) and dispatched via DPD in a temperature-controlled refrigerated van with gel packs. Each order is hand-cut, vacuum-sealed, and packed by an experienced butcher. Dublin orders placed on weekdays before 1pm arrive next day; nationwide delivery is typically next-business-day. Free delivery on orders over €90.
