Wicklow — the Garden of Ireland — sits at Dublin's doorstep but produces mountain lamb from the upland heather and rich lowland beef from the Vale of Avoca. We're building our Wicklow listings. In the meantime, these butchers deliver across Ireland.
Wicklow is a county of two terrains. The coastal lowlands and river valleys — around Arklow, Greystones, and the Vale of Avoca — support year-round grass-fed cattle on well-drained soils. The uplands from the Sugar Loaf to Lugnaquilla produce lamb grazed on mountain heather at elevations where the animal does real work, producing a leaner and more flavourful meat.
Wicklow's proximity to Dublin makes it a natural catchment for farm-direct producers reaching the city market. Several Wicklow farmers sell direct through farmers' markets in Dublin and Wicklow town. The county is also one of the strongest areas in Ireland for organic certification, with a cluster of organic livestock farms in the hill farming areas.
We're actively building Wicklow listings. If you're a Wicklow-based butcher or producer, we'd like to feature you.
We're building this section. Here's what's waiting for the right producer.
Wicklow sits between Ireland's granite uplands and one of the country's largest urban food markets.
